Children & Adolescents
I can provide short-or long-term therapy for children, which can include talking therapy, creative therapy, or EMDR.
EMDR is a very effective and gentle way to work with children and adolescents for a range of issues, but especially for any small or big events that might have had an impact on a child’s life.
I have over 20 years’ experience of working with children and adolescents, both as a social worker and as a psychotherapist. For over 5 years I worked extensively as a psychotherapist with looked after children/yp/unaccompanied asylum seekers in a London borough. I have received training in Theraplay and other therapeutic play for children and adolescents. I have provided support and training to parents and foster carers around attachment and parenting using PACE (playful, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy).
I take children and adolescents concerns and thoughts seriously and I’m not there to tell them that they are wrong, but to provide them with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of themselves, their relationships and their established patterns of behaviour, which will help reduce their difficulties.
I can provide therapy to children and adolescents in a range of areas, including but not limited to: any kind of trauma, anxiety, exam stress, low self-esteem, social anxiety, self-harm, phobias, and insomnia.
